Words of the Week x2!

Salamat - thank you

Paki - please

Po - ?????

As stated in my first post, Filipino culture values respect and also avoids conflict at all costs. Salamat and paki are 2 very important words to include in your every day language in the Philippines. Also, "po" is used in almost every sentence (sometimes even several times in a sentence)!! There's no direct translation in English, but it is a term to show respect for whoever you are talking to and to avoid coming off as rude. If you want to be ultra respectful, say "salamat po" anytime someone does something nice for you.
